Coach Chelsey Rosier

Coach Chelsey is the founder, program director and head coach of the 17u Texas Southern Flames Girls Basketball Program. Coach Chelsey was born in Tallahassee, Fl and attended Florida State University High School where she played for the varsity basketball team since the 7th grade. She won her first high school state championship ring as a 7th grader. Since 7th grade Coach Chelsey was on the all area first team from 8th grade to 12th grade. Coach Chelsey won Player of the year 3 years in a row and also played for the senior state game where she lead the North Florida High School team in points and assists.

After graduating high school, Coach Chelsey received a full scholarship to play at Gulf Coast State College which at the time was the #1 Junior College program in the country.In her 2 years of playing at Gulf Coast, Coach Chelsey earned national player of the week 3 times, was top 20 in the nation in scoring, led the conference in 3 pointers made and 3 point percentage. Her freshman year, her team won the state championship for the Florida Conference and made a final four appearance in the NJCAA tournament. After her two years at Gulf Coast State College, she then transferred to Prairie View A&M University where she continued her college playing career. In her junior year, Coach Chelsey led the SWAC in 3 point percentage and helped her team with big time wins over University of Houston, Sam Houston, and LA Tech. In the later part of her senior year at Prairie View, Coach Chelsey tore her ACL and Meniscus, which then ended her college career in 2016. Once Coach Chelsey earned her Bachelors Degree in accounting she moved back to Florida and began coaching with her high school and helping train with North Florida Elite Program. During that time Coach Chelsey trained current WNBA player , Jazmine Jones as well as multiple future Division 1 and Division 2 kids.

In 2017, Coach Chelsey made her transition to Houston and began training on the side to build her networking so she could get involved in the Houston basketball community. In 2018, she became an assistant coach for St. Thomas Episcopal School. Before Coach Chelsey, their program had not won a game in the past 2 years, and

in her first year they won district and lost in the 2nd round of playoffs. Coach Chelsey returned for a 2nd year and helped that team win district for the 2nd time and they again got beat in 2nd round of play offs. In between those 2 years, Coach Chelsey started helping with the Houston Thunder Girls AAU Program. The very first tournament she coached they won the entire tournament and then the COVID-19 pandemic began which put a halt to any sports seasons.

Coach Chelsey started Texas Southern Flames in 2020 during the pandemic when a group of high school teenagers were in need of a program to support their dreams. Since 2020, this program has grown into one of the most dynamic and contributing programs in Houston by helping girls be able to chase their dreams and play college basketball. In 3 years, Coach Chelsey and the TSF coaching staff has helped every player in their program over the years develop basketball skills as well as life skills so they are all well polished entering into the real world after high school. Coach Chelsey focuses on the basketball skill development and life skills for each kid in her program. Texas Southern Flames pride themselves on working with kids from all different walks of life and helping them get to the next level. We work with kids all over the Houston area but predominantly the south side of Houston. So far, TSF has had a 100% conversion rate on helping all of their seniors earn a scholarship to play at the next level. We are the only program in the Houston area with an all women’s coaching staff and we pride ourselves on being that avenue for kids to know what it is like, from a personal point of view, and helping prepare them for that next level mentally, physically and emotionally.
